What is RedNano?
Singapore – Singapore Press Holdings’ (SPH) search engine Rednano has ceased operation in less than three years since its launch in March 2008.
The Singapore-centric search engine, was a joint venture between SPH and Norwegian media group Schibsted ASA.
SPH in a statement said: “Following a review of its online portfolio, SPH has decided to realign its Singapore directory search business to achieve better synergy with its other digital offerings and achieve greater efficiency.”
The bulk of the directory listings managed by SPH Search, under the brand name of Rednano has now relocated to various verticals within ST701, SPH’s online classified portal.
Rednano’s mobile advertising offerings will be transferred to SPH’s Internet Business Unit (IBU) so the latter can develop a ‘full-fledged advertising network’ providing advertisers with a suite of mobile and other services.
The entire exercise, SPH said, will lead to a more efficient pooling of its sales and marketing efforts.
Rednano’s CEO Paul Jansen had retired in September last year.
