There is a Professional School of Mascot In Japan

Who says it’s easy to be a Mascotenterprise doll? See it turns out there is a professional mascot school in Japan. Popular Japanese often use mascot for marketing or product character in promotion. Therefore an artist Choko Oohira founded a professional mascot school in 1985.
I want to show the world how to fully become a character and explain that is a way to make children happy, “he said. The school has about 25 students. Eiichiro Sakaida, 21, who traveled more than 885km (550 miles) to try the class, said: I want to learn from professionals.
Where’s your eye? Where’s your ear word? Choko Oohira, founder of the school, pointed in front of a new class on moving in costumes that included students dressed as giant pandas, cats and sheep. Oohira itself is a mascot artist since 20 years ago. The goal is only one wants to help professionals perfect the art of motion and character as a mascot.

When I see places where someone’s hand is coming out between the hands of a costume, or they take off their mask in front of people, or show their skin under a mask, that’s very disappointing, says Oohira. I just want to tell them not so. I want to show the world how to fully become a character and explain that is a way to make children happy.

Students are taught everything from traditional dance, to help with actual dance routines as mascots, with different walking styles depicting different ages when wearing costumes. Other lessons include how to interact with children while wearing costumes, how to emotion, and training to ensure Mascotenterprise movement works when people can not see the player’s face.

Mascots are often used for promotional events and each Mascotenterprise has a certain character. In the Tokyo area alone there are 250 mascots, not including those used as corporate promotions.

I do like them, says Seiji Uchida, 12, who took part in a recent morning practice session with a character score. The fact that they are furry and each character has its own personality is quite interesting.
